My plans of frolicking about
on the deliciously decadent long weekend
were brought to a halt yesterday,
when my husband inadvertently walked into my
delicately bent leg as I stepped into the shower.
Oh dear!
A few hours in the emergency department,
umpteen x-rays and pokings of said ankle,
a pronouncement of
"complete bed rest for a week
and definitely no ladder climbing"
(an occupational hazard for an interior designer)
and here I am,
a lady in distress.
But I figure if I am going to be a lady in distress,
I may as well enjoy the sympathy factor to the max.
So while the family rushes about with
"Is there anything else you need, mother dearest?"
I shall be reclining,
in somewhat romantic fashion,
(as best as possible)
on the chaise,
and loving every minute of it!

That's too bad, I hope you recover soon!!
ReplyDeletethank you and I am sure it will be speedy.
DeleteOh no! Enjoy that quality chaise time.
ReplyDeleteThank you Raina!
DeleteSorry to hear of your injury. I hope you heal soon and don't get too bored with the inactivity.
ReplyDeleteYes, I don't think it will be long before the romantic notion of being pathetic morphs into the "I'm bored now" phase! But I'll take a leaf out of your book, and catch up on some reading, I think.
DeleteA special chance at catching up on reading for sure....there are some fab new books out there.....hope it all heals fast and well!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the well wishes and oh yes, so many lovely books around at the moment, including a fabulous architecture one I bought in New Zealand and haven't had a chance to read yet.
Deleteoh no!
ReplyDeletehope it all heals quickly.
cheryl xox.
Thank you Cheryl!
DeleteWhat a bummer!! Great forced relaxation though I suppose. Make the most of the sympathy.....I find it doesn't really last long!
ReplyDeleteI knitted a rug, well started knitting a rug, when I tore a tendon in my leg! x
Well so far they are still fussing over me. I can't believe it. Early days though! I hope your tendon mended properly.
DeleteYou just recline and perhaps throw your wrist across your forehead for added drama and let everyone fuss over you. I love your blog!!!
ReplyDeleteV
Aha, a girl after my own heart. Drama, oh yes, love that!
DeleteWish I could send you the chaise in my shop!I do think it would be just perfect for you!I'm enjoying your posts very much!Do as the DOC orders!Your poor husband he muct feel awful!
ReplyDeleteOh wouldn't that be lovely! Everything in your shop is beautiful, so I can imagine the chaise is something special. And yes, he feels EXTREMELY guilty....
DeleteWhy do these things always happen on holidays?!!!!
ReplyDeleteRest up, enjoy the spoiling and heal quickly! Jules
Ain't that just the truth Jules? Always when on holidays....Murphy's law, I suppose.
DeleteIn a couple of weeks you will be dreaming of extra reclining time and perhaps you could suffer a "relapse" then..... have a speedy recovery. J
ReplyDeletehey I like the sound of that! I could have a pain free but very dramatic relapse! haha! (Don't think I could get away with it though, somehow....)
DeleteMy dear friend! OUCH!! Sending lots of love your way. Goodness gracious. Please feel better soon but I hope that you will use this moment to rest without guilt! Doctors orders!
ReplyDeletexo,
Heather
Thank you Heather!
DeleteEnforced relaxation isn't the same as 'yearned for' relaxation but as the latter never seems to happen, please enjoy the former! I think when these things happen it makes one realise how important one's health is and how much we take it for granted. Please relax, look after yourself and I'm sure your lovely family will love taking care of you. Get well soon. Annie x.
ReplyDeleteThat is so very true Annie. The things we take for granted! Thank you for the lovely warm wishes.
DeletePlease get well and up soon, my very best wishes to you. As the saying goes: If you want to hear God laughing - make the plans. Your great sense of humor should speed up the healing. Enjoy dolce far niente.
ReplyDeleteI just had to look up that saying .... what a jewel of wisdom it is too! Thank you for the kind wishes.
DeleteOHHH poor your Virginia - ouch!!!
ReplyDelete. I hope you thoroughly enjoy your weekend on the couch (now you HAVE to be on it may as well try and enjoy ;)
- getting tea and biscuits, G&T time later and tons of magazines and a laptop.
Thoughts from me,
Axx
Thank you Anya. My husband made me a VERY large G & T on the evening after it happened, and the world did seem a much better place for a while there. But back on the tea and biscuits now, which the children are plying me with every 5 minutes. So cute!
DeleteJust catching up on your news ... so sorry to hear what happened Virginia!
ReplyDeleteI know you are so busy with work and this is definitely not what you needed right now!
Only thing I can say is make the most of it ... these things dont come around that often, so make the most of it... and thank your husband!
Wishing you a speedy recovery my friend xx
Thank you Marina. My clients are all being quite fabulous about it, I'm very lucky to have patient ones.
DeleteVirginia,
ReplyDeleteI just read about your leg, hope you get better soon, but, meanwhile, enjoy and rest, after all, is there greater luxury than relaxing during the week?
Warm hugs to you
Tereza
