If you have ever dreamed of having
sparkling turquoise water at the bottom of your garden,
where water nymphs & fairies might frolic in the moonlight,
then this little cottage in Sydney's fabulous Palm Beach
may just tickle your imagination.
oiled timber floorboards,
white walls,
black & white,
quirky furniture,
lots of natural sunlight...
...a few steps to the beach.
When I was a child,
we would often spend summer holidays at Palm Beach,
where I was intrigued by the combination of casualness & style.
Which this cottage epitomizes.
Fabulously.
The huge over-overscaled timber posts,
with their hewn textures,
bring an element of simple unadorned beauty
to this room.

Although we can't see it,
you can almost hear the water lapping outside
of this loft bedroom window.
A very livable,
very "just slip off your shoes & grab a Gin & Tonic with lime"
kind of endless~summer cottage.
That's how I like to think of it.
Would you like to live/holiday here?

ReplyDeleteRustic and chic...what else can you ask for in life...? Love it!
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a great day xo
My in-laws retired to their cottage at the lake and we go there every summer, it is great!
ReplyDeleteYes please. And they even have Cote Sud on the coffee table! Just perfect.
ReplyDeleteYes more like me! Love the timber beams and boards. Casual chic gorgeousness x
ReplyDeleteMy dream retirement would be to keep a small flat in Melbourne, but to spend six months of each year in a beach house, here or abroad. The living room that opens straight onto the beach would be bliss on earth.
