LMFF 2013 Designer Award...and the winner goes to menswear!!!

Talking about the return of menswear with glamour and style,
as we were lately,
it's encouraging to find that this year's LMFF Designer Award
has been won by the young label From Britten,
which just does menswear.
Not a sequinned gown in sight.

Hmmm.... there does seem to be an interest in menswear which is gaining momentum,
I reckon there is a definite movement stirring out there...

From Britten is the witty name behind the clever designs of brothers
Alexander and Tim Britten-Finschi,
who opened their store in Flinders Lane in October 2012,
so they truly are the new kids on the block.

In order to be eligible for the award,
entrants have to be an Australian fashion label in their first 5 years of business.

Just like the writings of Shakespeare,
whose wisdom is only revealed on thinking about the deeper meaning,
yet the wit is apparent at first hearing,
these clothes reveal their beauty in layers.
They appear almost casual in silhouette,
yet the intricacies of pattern and contrast of the fabrics
are of sophisticated fine detail.

Definitely a label to watch.

Their clothes are available from their store Customer,
at level 6, 289 Flinders Lane, Melbourne.

  1. Reminds me a lot of old Helmut Lang. The same hyper minimalism with a finesse in fabrics and detail.

I would wear all of this save for the chunky baskets...

  2. I agree with Heather, from Lost in Provence, it reminds me old Helmut Lang, too.
I'm not minimalistic if we're talking about interiors, but in fashion I certainly am.
    Have a nice day.
